Travel crate requirements
The crate is the cabin. Get it right.
An IATA-compliant travel crate is the single most important piece of equipment for any pet journey. Here's what we look for.
📦
IATA · LAR Compliant
Standard rigid plastic
Correct size
Tall enough for your pet to stand without ears touching the roof, long enough to turn around comfortably, and lie down naturally.
Ventilation on 4 sides
IATA requires ventilation openings on a minimum of three sides for international, with four sides preferred for domestic comfort.
Secure, screw-bolted doors
Plastic snap-locks are not airline-approved. Metal nuts and bolts, not pegs, secure the two halves of the crate.
Water bowl attached
A water bowl that fixes to the inside of the door — refillable from outside without opening the crate.
